Meta has introduced a new virtual reality device that brings immersive gaming, entertainment and multi-screen computing into a glasses-style form factor. The Meta VR Glasses, unveiled at
Meta Connect 2026, are priced at $1,299.99 and are expected to launch in spring 2027.
Weighing approximately 100 grams, the device is designed to be considerably lighter than conventional VR headsets. Meta has moved key components, including computing hardware, the battery and storage, into a separate connected module that can be carried in a pocket or attached to a bag.
Gaming is one of the major use cases Meta is highlighting for the new glasses. The company says more than 75 games will support hand-gesture controls at launch, allowing users to interact without relying on conventional controllers.
The glasses will also work with Xbox Cloud Gaming, enabling users to stream additional games with a compatible Bluetooth controller. Support for the wider Meta Quest gaming ecosystem and Touch Plus controllers will further expand the available gaming options.
Eye tracking and hand gestures are central to the interaction system, allowing users to navigate menus and control supported experiences through natural movements. Meta is also positioning the device as a platform for entertainment and productivity rather than solely as a gaming product.
The glasses feature a 5K Infinite Display based on micro-OLED panels, with Meta highlighting high-resolution visuals for movies, games and virtual workspaces. The device also supports Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for enhanced visual and spatial-audio experiences.
For entertainment, Meta says users will be able to access 3D movies and immersive content through partnerships with several streaming and media companies. The company is also working with sports partners to bring immersive live events to the platform.
On the productivity side, the glasses can create multiple virtual displays, allowing users to work with a large or multi-screen setup without carrying physical monitors. Meta says the glasses can also turn a desk or other flat surface into a virtual keyboard and touchpad.
Meta is adding a hologram calling feature that can place a photorealistic digital representation of a person inside the user's virtual environment.
The company says the technology can capture real-time expressions and reactions, while spatial audio is designed to make conversations feel more natural. The feature will work with calling services including WhatsApp and Zoom, according to Meta.
The Meta VR Glasses are scheduled to go on sale in spring 2027 at $1,299.99. Meta has not announced India-specific pricing or a launch date for the Indian market.
The device represents Meta's latest attempt to shift virtual reality away from bulky headset designs by combining immersive displays, gaming, entertainment and computing into a lighter glasses-based system.
