Accenture CEO Julie Sweet has rejected concerns that artificial intelligence could undermine the company’s traditional IT services business, arguing that AI is creating new growth opportunities while improving operational efficiency.

Speaking during the company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, Sweet said Accenture’s strategy is to use AI-driven efficiencies to deliver greater value to clients while investing in services that can benefit from wider AI adoption.

The company reported that around 100 additional clients began their first advanced AI projects with Accenture during the fourth quarter, taking the total number of enterprise clients starting such engagements beyond 400 for the full fiscal year.

Sweet described AI as a growth driver for the company, saying the technology is helping Accenture improve productivity and expand its client offerings.

For the full fiscal year, revenue reached US$74.2 billion. The company attributed its growth to large-scale client transformation projects, ecosystem partnerships, and demand for data and AI services.

Sweet said AI is increasingly being integrated into the company’s consulting and managed services work, as businesses seek support in adopting the technology and incorporating it into their existing systems.

AI is also helping Accenture improve productivity within its own operations. Sweet said these efficiency gains contributed to higher revenue per employee, allowing the company to handle larger and more complex projects.

Accenture plans to continue hiring across global markets in 2027, including for entry-level positions. However, the pace of recruitment is expected to moderate as automation takes over some routine operational tasks.

The development highlights a broader shift in the IT services industry, where companies are increasingly using AI both to develop new services for clients and to improve internal delivery.

While concerns persist that AI could automate some traditional technology and consulting work, Accenture is positioning the technology as an opportunity to expand its business rather than a threat to its existing model.
