Samsung Electronics has forecast a record quarterly operating profit of 107.4 trillion won ($80.17 billion) for the third quarter of 2026, driven by strong demand for memory chips used in artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
The forecast is nearly nine times Samsung's operating profit of 12.17 trillion won in the year-ago quarter. The company expects third-quarter revenue of about 195 trillion won, up from 86.06 trillion won a year earlier.
The earnings outlook is being supported by Samsung's semiconductor business, where demand for memory chips used in AI servers and data centres has increased. Tight supply and higher memory prices have also strengthened the company's profit expectations.
Reuters reported that the forecast would make Samsung the first technology company to record quarterly operating profit above 100 trillion won.
High-bandwidth memory (HBM), a key component in AI computing systems, has become an increasingly important part of the semiconductor market. Samsung is expanding its HBM business as technology companies and data-centre operators increase spending on AI infrastructure.
Samsung is scheduled to release its detailed third-quarter financial results on October 29. The results are expected to provide a breakdown of performance across its semiconductor, mobile and consumer electronics businesses.
