India’s e-commerce growth is increasingly spreading beyond its biggest urban markets, but higher-value transactions remain concentrated in major cities, according to an analysis of more than 200 million orders processed through EasyEcom over the 12 months to July 2026. The data shows that 57.2% of orders came from outside India’s 96 largest cities, but these markets accounted for only 39.3% of total order value.

The average order value (AOV) outside the top 96 cities stood at $8.66, compared with $17.89 across the largest cities. The top 96 cities generated 60.7% of total order value despite contributing 42.8% of orders, highlighting a widening gap between where e-commerce volumes are growing and where commercial value is concentrated. The five largest cities accounted for 15.7% of orders, while the top 10 contributed 22%.

At the state level, the gap is also significant. Haryana ranked 11th by order volume, with around 8.3 million transactions, but climbed to third by order value. Its AOV stood at $39.71, compared with $6.36 in Bihar. Bihar, despite processing more than 8.3 million orders, fell from 10th in volume to 15th in value.

City-level data showed Bengaluru leading in order volume with around 11 million orders, while Gurugram ranked seventh by volume but second by value at $192.9 million. Gurugram’s AOV was $69.86.

The festive shopping season is also showing signs of becoming more prolonged. September and October 2025 recorded 16.60 million and 16.67 million orders, respectively, while December saw 16.45 million orders.

EasyEcom’s data also highlighted major differences between commerce models. B2B transactions represented just 0.29% of orders but 27.3% of order value, with an average order value of $1,344.65. Quick-commerce orders accounted for 0.04% of volume and 1.7% of value.
