Google has launched the Fitbit Air fitness tracker in India at a price of Rs 13,999, adding a new
screenless wearable to its Fitbit product portfolio.
The device is designed to track health and fitness data without a display. Users can view the collected information through a connected smartphone rather than directly on the wearable.
Fitbit Air supports continuous heart-rate monitoring and tracks metrics including resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, blood oxygen levels and sleep. It can also automatically detect certain physical activities.
The device offers up to seven days of battery life, according to Google. The company said a five-minute charge can provide up to 24 hours of use.
Fitbit Air also works with Google's Health Coach, which analyses health and activity data to provide personalised information and recommendations. Google is including a three-month trial of its premium health features with the device.
The tracker is scheduled to go on sale in India from October 2 through Google and retail channels.
The launch comes as wearable-device makers increasingly focus on health monitoring features, while screenless trackers offer an alternative to smartwatches that provide notifications, apps and other smartphone-connected functions.
