Jaypee Institute of Information Technology (JIIT), a deemed-to-be university in Delhi-NCR, has reported 7,542 research publications and 90
funded projects, supported by computing facilities, specialised laboratories and academic programmes covering artificial intelligence (AI) and other
emerging technologies.
Established in 2001, JIIT received deemed-to-be university status in 2004 under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act. Its academic programmes cover AI, data science, cybersecurity, robotics and very-large-scale integration (VLSI) design and technology.
The institute’s laboratory facilities span several technology areas, including 5G applications, AI, cybersecurity, robotics, quantum computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). These include a 5G Use Case Lab, AI Skill Lab, Fortinet Cyber Security Lab, Robotics and AI Lab, Apple Lab and Quantum Computing Lab. The facilities are intended to complement academic learning with practical exposure to emerging technologies.
JIIT’s research infrastructure includes Ramanujan Universe, a high-performance computing facility launched in December 2023. According to the institute’s 2026 brochure, the system has a peak performance of 110 teraflops, 576 cores, eight NVIDIA A100 graphics processing units (GPUs), six computing nodes, 4.5 terabytes of RAM and 500 terabytes of usable storage. It also features a 200-gigabit InfiniBand switch for high-speed communication between computing resources.
The facility is designed to support computationally demanding work in AI, machine learning, data science and scientific computing. Its computing capacity can support research requiring substantial processing power, memory and high-speed data transfer.
Beyond research, JIIT supports entrepreneurship through its Research, Innovation, Development and Entrepreneurship (RIDE) initiative. The programme promotes startup incubation and the development of research-based business ideas. The institute reports 15 startups associated with its innovation activities.
Industry engagement and academic partnerships also form part of JIIT’s approach. Its listed industry relationships include Wipro and the Airports Authority of India, while its academic associations include the University of Florida, Charles Sturt University in Australia, the University of York and Iowa State University. These associations provide a framework for industry engagement and academic collaboration, although the specific activities and outcomes vary by partnership.
In the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), JIIT was placed in the 101–150 band in the engineering category in both 2024 and 2025.
The university also provides placement support through its Training and Placement Cell, which facilitates internships, industry interactions and recruitment preparation. JIIT’s published website lists more than 433 companies visiting for recruitment for the 2026 graduating batch, along with more than 1,124 placements and internship offers cumulatively. The institute also reports a highest placement package of Rs 94.25 lakh offered by LinkedIn to a student from the batch.
These figures are institution-reported indicators. Company visits, placement offers and internship offers are different measures, while the highest package does not represent the typical graduate’s salary.
JIIT’s reported research output, specialised laboratories and high- performance computing resources highlight the facilities supporting its technology education and research programmes. Their broader impact can be assessed through research outcomes, practical applications and the skills graduates take into industry and further study.
