Telangana has launched a Green Skills and Applied AI Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad to prepare graduates for emerging roles in
artificial intelligence, renewable energy and sustainable pharmaceuticals, with 100 job offers announced at the inauguration.
The centre was inaugurated on October 23 by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu at SAS iTower. The initiative is a partnership between the Telangana government, Microsoft, the 1M1B Foundation and MeitY Startup Hub.
The facility will offer hands-on training in applied artificial intelligence (AI), green pharmaceuticals, solar energy, electric vehicles and wind energy. It will also connect participants with industry mentors, internships and potential employment opportunities, aiming to bridge the gap between technical education and workplace requirements.
The 100 job offers were announced through 1M1B Jobs Express at the launch. Eight memorandums of understanding were signed with industry partners: WindStream Energy Technologies, SCL Lifesciences, Emball’ISO India Packaging, Vimta Labs, Knowvation Learnings, CIEL HR Services, Arah Infotech and MSys Inc. Four companies are also expected to recruit candidates, according to reports on the inauguration.
Microsoft will support the centre with AI technologies, digital learning resources, employee mentorship and innovation challenges, while 1M1B will oversee implementation and management. The programme is intended to give graduates practical experience applying AI to industrial and sustainability challenges.
The Hyderabad facility forms part of a planned national network of five Green Skills and Applied AI Centres of Excellence. The wider initiative aims to engage 100,000 young people across India in applied AI and green skills by 2030. This target applies to the national programme, not exclusively to the Hyderabad centre.
The launch also featured the #AIForMyCity Challenge, which encourages young people to develop AI-powered solutions to civic and environmental problems in their communities.
The initiative reflects growing efforts to align workforce training with demand for AI capabilities and sustainability-related expertise. Its longer- term impact will depend on the quality of training, industry participation and how effectively participants move into relevant jobs, internships or entrepreneurial projects.
