Oracle announced the general availability of Oracle Database@AWS in three new regions — Frankfurt, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; and Ohio, USA — bringing its flagship AI Database technology to AWS infrastructure outside the original North America launch. Oracle and AWS jointly announced general availability of Oracle Database@AWS in North America (Virginia and Oregon) in July 2025, and the partnership is in the process of expanding to 20 additional regions over the coming year. Oracle Database@AWS runs Oracle’s enterprise database software — including Oracle Exadata Database Service and Autonomous AI Lakehouse — directly on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure within AWS data centres, providing enterprise customers with micro-second latency between Oracle database workloads and AWS services. The service supports Oracle Real Application Clusters, Zero Data Loss Autonomous Recovery Service, and Terraform integration. The initiative is part of Oracle’s broader multicloud strategy, which also includes Oracle Database@Azure — now available in the Netherlands West Europe region in addition to North America and other markets. Oracle’s capital expenditure is projected to reach levels of up to 57% of revenue in 2026 — a capital intensity ratio that more closely resembles an industrial company than a traditional software business — reflecting the company’s aggressive commitment to AI data centre infrastructure. Oracle operates 147 active data centres globally with a further 64 under development, making it one of the most aggressive infrastructure builders outside the big three hyperscalers.
