Nazara Technologies returned to profitability in the September quarter of FY2026–27, reporting consolidated revenue from operations of Rs 803.15
crore, up 52.6% year-on-year. Net profit stood at Rs 35.36 crore, compared with a loss of Rs 33.93 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, as
gaming revenue increased and newly acquired businesses contributed to growth.
The company announced its highest-ever quarterly revenue on October 26.Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 93% year-on-year to Rs 120 crore, while the EBITDA margin expanded by 3.11 percentage points to 14.9%, reflecting improved operating performance and contributions from higher-margin gaming businesses.
However, the return to profit needs context. The year-ago quarter included a substantial exceptional charge related to provisions against investments following changes in India’s online gaming regulatory framework. The latest quarter also included an impairment charge of Rs 6.68 crore on a subsidiary’s intangible assets. As a result, the year-on-year comparison reflects both operating performance and the impact of exceptional items. Gaming was the largest contributor to revenue, generating Rs 656 crore, up 122% year-on-year and accounting for around 82% of consolidated revenue. Mobile gaming revenue increased 167% to Rs 550 crore, highlighting the growing contribution of the company’s mobile gaming portfolio.
The acquisitions of Bluetile Games and BestPlay Systems played a significant role in the expansion. Nazara began consolidating the two businesses from August 1, 2026, following their acquisition for a combined cash consideration of US$303 million. During their first two months under the group, the businesses generated Rs 329 crore in revenue and Rs 64 crore in EBITDA, with a margin of 19.4%.
While the acquired businesses contributed significantly to gaming revenue, Nazara’s existing gaming studios also recorded organic revenue growth of 11% and EBITDA growth of 17% year-on-year. This indicates that the quarter’s performance reflected both acquisition-led expansion and growth across its established portfolio.
Performance varied across individual businesses. WildWorks reported revenue growth supported by new content for its Animal Jam game, while Kiddopia recorded a 21% increase in revenue. Curve Games, the company’s PC and console publishing business, reported revenue growth of 27% and an EBITDA increase of 61%. Fusebox Games, however, recorded a decline in revenue amid lower organic installs. For the first half of FY2026–27, Nazara reported revenue of Rs 1,232 crore, up 20% year-on-year, and EBITDA of Rs 166 crore, an increase of 52%. Despite returning to profit in the September quarter, the company remained loss-making for the half-year period, highlighting the difference between its quarterly results and overall financial performance.
The results follow changes in the company’s leadership. Raymond A. Stauffer, founder of Bluetile Games and BestPlay Systems, took over as chief executive officer on September 16. Mithun Sacheti, founder of CaratLane, joined as executive director on October 12, subject to shareholder approval. Arun Agrawal joined as chief financial officer on October 16.
Nazara is seeking to build a global gaming platform by combining its portfolio of gaming businesses with shared capabilities in marketing, data, product development and technology. The company aims to use these capabilities to support game development, improve user acquisition and strengthen operational efficiency across its studios.
The September quarter highlights the scale that acquisitions can add to Nazara’s business, alongside growth in its existing gaming operations. Sustaining organic growth, integrating the acquired businesses and converting higher revenue and EBITDA into consistent profitability will be key factors shaping its performance in the coming quarters.
